Hello Everyone,
I am excited to share that my website has been published. https://kahstudios.lpages.co/ It is up and a work in process.
It has been where it is for some time, along with a whole second version. I will admit I was stuck in my head with fear of what people would think. I had the “what ifs” and “not good enough” story reals playing. 🎥😶🌫️
Then I had a moment, “You miss 100% of the shots you don’t take”. So what if there are people who want to pick apart what I’ve done and do not like me or my fonts or layout choices? I did ask for feedback and I may entertain the constructive criticisms, and I’m not talking about those folks. I was in fear of peers and professionals, the ones I have experienced over the years who felt they were more educated or knowledgeable and had more letters after their names, and who continually spoke in theoretical diagnosis speak.
Not that there is anything wrong with that as there are many people that respond well to that style or level of therapy. I am not in clinical therapy, not that I don’t have training or skills. I use a down-to-earth and real approach with folks. My work with children, youth, and people in crisis for over 25 years, has shaped my style of working, and in my experience, my way of connecting and working has served my guests well.
Here comes another quote, “I may not be everyone’s cup of tea”. Interestingly enough it was not my students or guests who looked down their noses at me, it was the “professionals” who saw my way of working as unconventional and not polished enough. If you have ever experienced misunderstood teens you will understand that textbook theoretical approaches may not work with this demographic.
The feedback, to share a few, I have received over the years about my way of working with folks; is welcoming, comfortable, feeling heard and acknowledged, fun, accountable, and real. People express feeling better than they did on arrival, and that is my goal. Leave them feeling better than you found them. People need to remember they have all they need and it is them doing the work, not me. I am a reflection of what they show and share with me. I am about encouragement, empowerment, and personal accountability. That to me has been the best technique I have experienced both personally and professionally.
My webpage will change and I will add, subtract, and evolve its content and that is for sure. The biggest piece is it is live! Yay. To answer someone’s inquiry, Yes, I do work on Sundays if need be.
The second big Yay is I had my first in-person since Covid. I have been doing work online and it has given me so much experience and confidence in how I want to share my tools.
The group over the weekend was engaged, receptive, and open. It was a wonderful reintroduction, and I am feeling grateful for the opportunity. Plus I have another in-person event booked for next month and I am looking forward to this one as it also includes a month-long showing of my work. Six pieces were chosen after 2 other pieces were in a show last month and invoked a potent engagement with the patrons. They commented on the energy of my pieces and wanted more.
Extending a big thank you for being a part of my journey this far, as this podcast has been a catalyst to my momentum. Sharing my gifts and the teaching tools I have learned along the way brings me such Joy and Purpose.
Much Love,
Kelly 🕊️💖
